Vincent Santelmo

I am a multitalented Artist, inspired by unique people, relatable music, nature, my thoughts and ideas. My compositions reflect reality and fantasy, intended to evoke emotions and communicate my personal experiences in this world through my eyes. My art is distinctive and surreal, exploring every category, style, subject and medium.

I’m originally from the Bronx. I've been a serious artist since childhood. My techniques developed once I began workshops after moving to Westchester, New York. I attended the Rye Art Center and Mamaroneck Artists Guild, then moved on to Greenwich, Connecticut where I enrolled at the Propersi Art Gallery and School of Art.

I was the student of comic book legend William Fraccio, French Impressionist Jacques Maloubier, and protégé of fine artist and proprietor Augustus Propersi. In Manhattan, I attended College at the School of Visual Arts, while furthering my interests at the Parsons School of Design, and The Art Students League. My artistic occupations included constructing show Marquee’s along 42nd. Street, and as a custom Jewelry designer. I later attended the Fashion Institute of Technology while working as a salesman in the Garment Industry, and partnering Real Estate agent.

My photojournalistic work includes six books on Hasbro’s GI Joe toy action figure series, illustrated with scaled props and dioramas I constructed combining painted landscape backdrops. Additionally, I built displays for GI Joe’s New York Toy Fair and 30th Anniversary onboard the USS Intrepid Aircraft Carrier.

I exhibited my sculptures at Hopper House, and continued painting classes at the Rockland County Center for the Arts for inspiration from other imaginative artists, and teachers, to be among other creatives as myself.
